Accuracy by tradition

The people of the Erzgebirge region have metalworking in their blood. Beginning with iron ore mining in the 15th century, the town of Aue established itself as a German centre of mechanical engineering during the Industrial Age. As part of the manufacture of sheet forming machines, it was necessary to make stamping and cutting dies. Die-making supplied the dies and moulds with which the desired metal products could later be produced. Bernhard Hiltmann, a former journeyman locksmith, recognised the benefit of separating the machine from the manufacture of the dies. In 1882, he founded a factory specifically for cutting and punching dies, from which the current AWEBA later emerged. This year marked a milestone for die-making: No other company in this industry has been established for so long.

Customers all over the world appreciate our high quality and reliable accuracy, as well as the unmatched length of the tool life of the dies made in Saxony. For these reasons, renowned manufacturers and suppliers count on AWEBA dies and the expertise, skills and care this traditional enterprise brings to the development of its product.

The takeover of the AWEBA Group by the Schuler Group GmbH, the market leader in forming technology, marks another milestone in AWEBA’s history. This acquisition established what is easily the most efficient die-making company in the world freely active on the market. Working with Schuler, AWEBA can now for the first time serve as a single-source supplier for complex systems representing the entire supply chain including presses, dies, fixtures, engineering and other services of all kinds.
